Educational Needs Analysis of the Insurance Agencies
The development of the sales network and abundance of career opportunities in the insurance industry has refocused attentions toward sales network newcomers. Thus, standardization and introduction of the appropriate education before receiving activity permits and in-service empowerment education are considered as some of the fundamental measures that must be taken in the insurance industry.

Attending to the choices, education, and empowerment of the sales network in the insurance industry, due to their role and significance, their market share in written premiums, their presence at the forefront of the insurance industry, and the extent of the expansion and dispersion of the insurance sales, is highly significant. On the other hand, the strong demand for entering into the insurance industry and the necessity to work in a semi-competitive environment after receiving activity permits, makes the standardization of the educational content, centers, and institutions and more importantly the initial education before entering into the market, an absolute prerequisite for the sales network agents.

In light of this, the educational needs analysis of Iran’s insurance industry was put on IRC’s agenda and was afterwards developed as a research report by Mr. Mahmood Sabzi with the collaboration of Mrs. Mozhdeh Denak and Mrs. Zahra Badali.

Being prepared in five sections, the research report is an attempt to find reasons for the reformation and optimization of the curricula developed for the insurance agency applicants. The titles of the first to fifth sections are as follows: “The Necessity and Significance of the Reformation and Optimization of the Courses and Curricula”, “Review of The Educational Status of the Insurance Agencies and Applicants”, “Review of the Reasons behind Reformation and Optimization of the Courses and Curricula”, “Research Methodology”, and “Development of the Proposed Model for the Reformation and Optimization of the Courses and Curricula”.
According to the findings of the research report, for a successful education, several factors such as content, educational environment, educational tools, and trainability must be considered. Since the subject of the insurance industry is human being, several other factors might contribute to the success or failure of an educational course. Thus, it is necessary not only to have a systematic perspective about policymaking and planning for a successful training, but also to consider balance in all the relevant aspects.

The findings of the research report reveal that determining some eligibility conditions for the insurance applicants deems necessary. Based on the views of the questionnaire respondents from across the insurance industry, there is a consensus on the significant of delivering practical training and successful pass of the insurance sales and marketing courses.
