The research priorities for the dissertation projects are based some specific themes. They are classified based on each field of study and an initial proposal is provided as the starting point for the doctoral students to follow. For each theme, an advisor from IRC’s research associates is also introduced.
The initial proposals are provided with the ‘statement of the problem’, ‘literature’, ‘hypotheses’, ‘methodology’, and ‘references’ based on each theme.
The themes pertain to the following fields: the effectiveness of regulation in the country, the portfolio risk of various insurance businesses, the use of data mining for the evaluation of big portfolio of variable annuities, pricing variable annuities using Monte Carlo methods, machine learning in the actuarial practice of P&C business, the use of data mining in predicting fraud in life insurances (and/or health insurances), asset and liability management in P&C insurances using Multi-stage Stochastic Programming, and wealth management based on the Shariah and the status of takaful.
