Board of Trustees
Members of the Board of Trustees are the Minister of Sciences, Research & Technology or his representative, Director of the Management and Planning Organization or his representative, Director General of IRC who acts as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees and three to five members elected from the scientific and cultural communities. One of the main goals of the Board of Trustees is the approval of organization chart, regulations, annual budgets and the appraisal of IRC annual report. The members of the Board of Trustees include natural and legal persons that are as follows:

Legal Persons:
1. Dr. Khoshkalam Khosroshahi, President of Central Insurance of I.R. Iran, Chairman of the Board;
2. Dr. Leili Niakan, Director General of Insurance Research Center, Secretary General of the Board;
3. Dr. Shahab Kaskeh, Deputy of the Center for Boards of Trustees and the Audit Committee of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology;
4. Mozhgan Khanloo, Representative of the Strategic Supervisory Deputy of the President.

Natural Persons:
1. Dr. Mohsen Mehrara, Faculty Member, Tehran University;
2. Dr. Mohammad Javad Sharif Zadeh, Faculty Member, Imam Sadegh (S.A.) University;

Director General of IRC

The Director General of IRC is nominated from the academic community by the President of Central Insurance of I.R. Iran and approved by the Minister of Sciences, Research & Technology for a period of 4 years. S/he must be a faculty member and his/her term in office is extendable. Among his/her major responsibilities are planning, signing contracts, annual budgeting and setting up research groups and enforcing the recommendations of the Board of Trustees and the Research Council.

The present Director General of IRC is Dr. Leili Niakan. Dr. Leili Niakan holds a Ph.D. in Economic Sciences and is a Research Associate of IRC. She has authored numerous papers and books in the fields of econoimcs and insurance. Dr. Niakan had previously several academic positions in several insitutions including Deputy Research of IRC, Director of Personal Insurances Research Department, Technical and Insurance Deputy and Director of Risk Mitigation Division of Buildings Natural Catastrophe Insurance Pool, and Member of the Research Council of Kosar Insuranc Company. She has also referreed several academic papers. In 2021, she was awarded as the Best Research Assocaite of IRC and in 2023, she achieved Third Rank of Best Researcher in the fields of insurance and takaful.
 
Research Council
Members of the Research Council are the Director General of IRC who acts as the Chairman of the Council, the Research Deputy of IRC who acts as the Council Secretary, the Directors of Departments and professionals from the insurance industry and academic members from across globe.

The research council responsibilities include planning and determining the scientific and research objectives of IRC, reviewing, evaluating and decision-making on the development of research projects, and formulating the outcomes of research activities. The research council assembly is held every month.

The Research Deputy is responsible for leading, coordinating and supervising all the studies being carried out at IRC. A large proportion of the Research Deputy workload is related to research projects, sponsoring theses at master’s and Ph.D. level.

One of the major responsibilities of the deputy is offering research proposals to the research council and supervising the activities of the research departments. It also conducts need analysis projects in order to identify the research priorities of the insurance industry.

Under the Research Deputy supervision, since 2009, multiple large-scale research plans have been accomplished and several fundamental research projects have been undertaken and many more are anticipated until the end of 2024.

The current Research Deputy of IRC is Dr. Asma Hamzeh, also Associate Researcher and previous Director of the Modern Insurance Technologies Department of IRC. She has Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Tarbiat Modares. She has also accomplished two Post-Doctoral studies in Mathematics from Kashan Univesity sponsored by Iran National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Elites Foundation.
